entry by an angry senior girl

all gr 12s to the gym for an assembly
"you're the leaders of the school"
"so far you guys have been great.."

then we got contracts. the contracts outlined the expectations we were to fully meet. greeeeeeaaaat.
"i will arrive on time for home-room, i will arrive on time for classes, i will not skip school, i will take care of my homework consistently, i will wear my uniform proudly, i will respect deadlines, i will respect my school, my courses, my teachers, my peers and myself.
i understand that if i do not meet these fundamental expectations, i will forfeit such priveleges as going off campus and unsupervised lunch, participation on teams, in clubs and on school sponsored trips. i accept that i will forfeit privileges if i do not respect expectations of behavior and study at St. Patrick.
I will return this contract signed, and on time, or I will forfeit my first privilege.
In signing below, I am indicating that I accept the conditions of this contract."

has anyone else read the contract and thought to themself .."what the fuck?!". the last two lines contradict eachother. we have a contract we're basically forced to sign. if we don't sign it and bring it back on time we can't go off campus anymore. it says to sign the contract if we accept the conditions of the contract but we have a due date for it to be signed and brought back and if we dont we lose privileges? so what this contract is saying.. is that we don't have a choice of whether we agree or not. k then what's the point if we don't have a choice? i'm not saying i want to skip or i want to disrespect my school or anything but my main problem is tardiness. stupid, i know. but it's usually due to traffic on the knight street bridge (oak is much worse, so i have no choice) but i'm going to get punished for leaving home at 745 and arriving at 830? my privileges will be taken away? holy shit.

what if i dont accept? then what happens? i'm not allowed off campus? our grad dinner will be cancelled?! i'm not allowed to not accept. there's no check box on the contract that says i'm allowed to disagree. do they understand what a contract is??!?!!? (an agreement between two or more parties for the doing or not doing of something specified.) what if i dont agree?! all they're going to do with this contract is shove it in our face if we screw up.

what a waste of 88 pieces of paper. what's the point in taking time to make a contract for us to sign saying we agree if we have no choice.
