2012

2012 has been great. I finally came out of my turtle shell and allowed myself to experience new things, meet new people, and I learned a shitload of lessons that I will take with me forward.

Things I've learned in 2012:

1. Stay humble. I struggled with this a few times over the year, to watch my friends as they graduated while I was stuck working a job with no future only taking classes part time. I forced myself to learn that other people's success doesn't necessarily mean that I was a failure and instead it should be a motivation to work harder. Very often people showcase their success but not too many times do people show the struggles it took to get there.

2. Go with your gut. About anything! Food, school, work, tattoos, friends,... if something smells fishy then there's usually something up. Or someone didn't wash their pekpek.

3. Travelling is life changing. This year I went on two major trips. One to the Philippines for 2 months and the other about a month long road trip with a few good friends to California. Both trips taught me that there is so so so much more than what's going on here in little Vancouver and that travelling with friends without a gps calls for good times.
4. If you keep a positive attitude, you'll only attract more positive things to come to you. Rule of attraction ladies and gentlemen.

5. Sometimes you have to say no. Saying yes all the time can be draining.. I'd know.

6. Don't let people walk all over you.

7. Don't be shady. Pretty self explanatory.

8. Family will always always always be there for you. I write about my family a lot but the truth is, I don't feel like I can ever thank them enough. My family is such an amazing bunch of fob-tastic comedians that I feel like I can't miss a single family party. They've been there for me through every single hardship I've faced and to be able to open up to everyone about everything, it's such a good feeling.

9. I'm good at throwing parties. Haha. Just saying.

10. Keep the good friends that you have close. Those genuine, walang hiya, always there for you, gonna tell you if you have something in your teeth, always have an extra hair tie for you when you puke, hook you up at their job, listen to you go on and on about stupid boys, let you hug them all the time when they're not the hugging type, drive you home when your drunkass cannot, with the same sarcastic humor type people are rare.. seriously.

Shit. I learned a lot this year huh?

And here's another last minute lesson from a good friend:

take risks!!!!

Anyway, cheers to 2012! You were the mini-cherry on top of the regular cherry, on top of the sundae of awesomeness that is my life. (himym =P)

If anyone still reads this, what was your favourite lesson learned of 2012?

That you are one of very few people that will have my back and I know I can always count on :D (especially when I say stupid shit when I'm drunk)
